About

Blackbelt Women Rising is a nonprofit organization rooted in the Alabama Blackbelt, serving seven counties(Choctaw, Hale, Perry, Marengo, Sumter, Greene, and Wilcox). Our work is designed to meet people where they are, especially in rural communities that have historically been overlooked in funding, infrastructure, and access. We bring resources home by providing evidence-based prevention education in schools, offering crisis support to survivors, expanding environmental and water-justice awareness, and helping communities understand and navigate complex issues like wastewater, public health risks, and industrial impacts. Through grants and partnerships, we invest directly into our communities, supporting clean drinking water initiatives, youth education programs, victim services, and community capacity-building.
